Life is a Journey, not a Destination

'Life is a journey, not a destination'

is a famous quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. It means that life is not meant to rush through, but to savour every moment, learn the lessons along the way, face the challenges and move ahead.

The truth is that no matter how much we accomplish and achieve in our life, yet there is always scope for more to be had. So, why does all this matter? This is because many people put off things that really matter in pursuit of the things they want to achieve. They procrastinate telling themselves not to worry about such things as they will do so after compeleting a particular task. They put off things like spending quality time with family and friends, nurturing relationships, enjoying life and doing things that give them joy and peace in life. Many of these people don't even realise that what they are losing postponing such things in pursuit of just achieving materialistic wants. The key to obtaining real peace in our lives is to focus on enjoying the journey, taking the time to 'smell the roses and focusing on what is really important in life. This does not mean that we should give up our dreams and goals. But we should simply try to find the right balance, pursue big things without sacrificing on 'little things' that make life worth living.
